In the End

At the end, the dark will rise

Over the final gasp of light before it dies

But I will have gone long before

Not in glory, but with a quiet closing of the door

I will not live to see the end

Mercifully, I will have gone west young

In quiet blaze, raging peace

Leaving behind only that which I touched

With the tenderness of this fire

And the quietness of my desire
